Stitch Craftsmen Ltd (Whatley / Frome, Somerset)
Our Staff
We currently employ just over 20 staff, most of whom work on a full-time basis and are both dedicated and committed. Since we are a relatively small family run factory, we have great flexibility when it comes to working and deadlines.
Our staff are always keen to meet orders by the required deadline, however tight that may be. In the past, when orders were large and the deadlines tight, the staff at Stitch Craftsmen were happy to put in the necessary extra hours, staying on late and working through weekends to ensure that the customer was happy.
The sad closure of the Clarks shoe factory in Radstock in 1996 conveniently coincided with the expansion of Stitch Craftsmen, and it was at this time that we began to grow our workforce and recruit, hand-picking the very best and most experienced machinists, cutters and seamstresses from Clarks.
Stitch Craftsmen Ltd: Our Staff, Seamstresses and Sewing Machinists
Many of these machinists worked at the Clarks factory for their entire career and their combined experience quite literally covers hundreds of years, with a wealth of knowledge spread over a variety of stitching backgrounds. The quality and speed of their work is of an exceptionally high standard and really quite hard to beat, anywhere in the world.
As well as recruiting experienced staff to work on the sewing machines and use our other industrial equipment, we have been very keen to make this a dedicated and loyal family business. Our staff all consider themselves to be a part of this 'family' and we are proud to make use of their skills and comprehensive skill base.
